Hi Everyone! I can see we have quite a few young girls we in the audience. Ladies, might you be here to see an...oh, I dunno...a certain boy band??!?
(screams erupt from the audience!)
Ohhh, I think I know who you're here to see! Well, why wait? Let's get them out here! Ladies and Gentlemen, the boys from the 5 of Wands!
Amanda: Well, what a reception! I'm sure you guys get this wherever you go.
Band Member: Oh, sure, we do, and it's great every time. We love it!
Amanda: I bet you do! Now let's talk about this album you're working on. Are you almost done?
Band Member: We're about halfway through. It's actually a really good place to be, where we are now. We've gotten comfortable with the sound we're trying for now, and so I think the rest of the album will come about even quicker.
Amanda: Would you say you're at a turning point?
Band Member: Yeah, definitely! You know, these things take time to gel. It never happens all at once, you have to work at it, get everyone's input, make sure we're all on the same page. It's a collaboration, of course.
Amanda: How does that work? Do you each have a song you write or lyrics you contribute?
Band Member: It's not really that predictable. You have to let things happen spontaneously. It's like playing a sport. You may have an overall strategy and goal in mind, but how you get there is open to interpretation.
Band Member 2: Yeah, like we were working on this song the other day, and I just couldn't stop thinking of this line that said, "Shake me like a pepper shaker". It was a little weird but when I told the guys, they were like "Yeah! Let's do it!".
Amanda: Sounds like a messy but fun process. Do you have fun?
Band Member: Totally! We all love what we do. Getting to do it with others like this is the best. I don't know how people go solo, I really don't. The more input you have, the better it goes.
Amanda: Well, it can't always go that well...can it?
Band Member: Sure, we have our issues. Sometimes the whole world will go upside down, with us bickering at each other, sometimes full-on fighting with each other. It can get nasty.
Band Member 2: Yeah, like there was this time when our recording equipment wasn't working properly. Something was wrong, and the whole band just got frustrated. We started directing our frustration with the situation on each other. That was totally the reverse of what we're normally like.
Band Member 3: Right, but do you remember how that turned out? We actually ended up just doing a low-key acoustic set, just us and the instruments, no electricity, nothing. And it was brilliant. We decided to do that for one song on the album even, it came out that good.
Amanda: So, you could almost say the 5 of Wands reversed is sometimes an opportunity to do something different? To see where your obstacle is taking you?
Band Member: Sometimes, yes. I mean, I don't want to oversell it. You have to be really open-minded to recognize the opportunities, to see the possibilities. It requires a lot of positive thinking, glass half-full stuff...
Amanda: Indeed. Well, Guys, this has been fabulous, but I don't think your fans are here to just hear you talk. Shall we do a little singing?
Ladies and Gents, I have the pleasure of introducing the 5 of Wands with their hit "Shake Your Pepper Shaker"!
I'm feeling frothy, like an egg that's whipped
All bubbly, but lookin for that kick
Creamy, all smooth and extra fine
But you've got it baby, the thing to make me high
Shake Your Pepper Shaker on Me Baby...wooh!
Shake, Shake, Shake
Shake, Shake, Shake
I can't wait for your spice any longer...wooh!
Shake Shake Shake
